Annamma K. Mathew was born in Kottayam, Kerala, India on January 27, 1935, a daughter of Mathai K. and Mary Mathew.  She entered into eternal rest on September 25, 2017 at JFK Hospital in Edison, N.J. at the age of 82.

She graduated from SB College in Chenganacherry, India. She continued her education at Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore India and continued to work as an RN.  Later she was sent by the hospital to Australia for a specialized training as an operating room nurse.  She migrated to the United States in 1970 and worked as a registered nurse in the operating room at St. Michael’s Medical Center. Later, she continued her profession at Jersey City Medical Center from which she retired in the year 2000.  

She lived in Newark, East Orange and eventually settled in Iselin, N.J. She was an active member of the Mar Thoma Church of N.J

Annamma enjoyed knitting, gardening but most importantly cooking church dinners and entertaining family and friends. She was kind, wonderful, generous, and most importantly loving.  She was very devoted to her family and always sought the very best for them. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister she shared an unlimited love of her heart with each of them.

Annamma is survived by her husband Chacko Mathew whom she married on July 26, 1971. She is also survived by her two sons, Sajith (Michelle), Sabu (Princy) Mathew; 5 grandchildren, Dylan, Nyla, Kayla, Elijah and Ezra Mathew. Also surviving is her brother Mathai (Sophie) Mathew, her brother in law Rev. Yesudas (Kathryn) Devadan ; 4 nephews, Phillip, Matthew and Paul Devadan, Ajith K. Mathew and a niece Dena Mlodgenski.

Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister Mary Devadan.

Memories of her life of love, friendliness and devotion will remain with us to comfort and inspire.  We praise God for the wonderful gift of life that has touched us in so many ways.
