V.C Mathen (Achenkunju) 84, entered into heavenly abode on December 15, 2017.  He was born on October 5, 1933 to the late Mr. V. P. Chacko and Mrs. Sosamma Chacko, Vadakenadayil family, Manganam, Kottayam.  He grew up with four siblings.

He received his college education from CMS College, Kerala.        He started his career in accounting at the age of 22 at Harrison Malayalam Plantation and continued as Superintendent in various tea estates across Kerala.  He moved to the US in 1988 and worked as an Accountant in New Community Corporation in Newark, NJ for 14 years. 

V.C Mathen was an active member of The Mar Thoma Church of New Jersey since he came to the US.  He is survived by Mrs. Grace Mathen, his wife for the last 56 years, their three children, six grandchildren and a sister.

His sense of humor and smiling face enriched the lives of all who came in contact with him.  He was dedicated to his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He was strong willed, family oriented, well-disciplined and left a legacy that will be cherished forever.
