October 17, 1929 – November 14, 2019

George A. Zachariah was born to Geevarghese Mathai and Mariamma Geevarghese, on October 17, 1929, in Edayaranmula, Kerala. He was the youngest and last surviving member of their nine children. He married Susan Koshy of Pullavallil, Maramon on September 16, 1963. He moved to the United States with his family in 1974. He passed away peacefully on November 14, 2019 at the age of 90, in his home, surrounded by his family. He is survived by Susan, his beloved wife of 56 years, sons George and Sudhir, daughters-in-law Reeni and Susan and grandchildren Stephen, Benjamin, Serena, Annemarie and Isaac. He will be remembered for his deep involvement in the Mar Thoma Church community from his youth in Edayaranmula to his adulthood in Hyderabad and beyond. He was one of the founding members of the Mar Thoma Church of Greater New York, one of the first Mar Thoma Churches in the Tri-state area. He also played a pivotal role in the formation of The Mar Thoma Church of New Jersey, where he worked in several positions of leadership and service.
